GTA 6 runs on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is the complete list, and it has not changed since Rockstar first announced the game. There is no PlayStation 4 version, no Xbox One version, no Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version, and no PC release date. If you own a last generation console, the honest answer is that you will need new hardware.

The official launch line
Grand Theft Auto VI releases Thursday, November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
These three get asked constantly, and they are three different situations. Grouping them together is what makes the answers confusing.
PS4 and Xbox One: never on the list
GTA 6 was announced as a current generation title and has been one at every step since. Rockstar has never listed a last generation version, never dated one, and never taken preorders for one. This is not a version that got cancelled. It never existed.
Switch 2: no announcement, and a comment that gets misread
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in February 2025 that the company would fully expect to support Switch 2, while adding that it would not necessarily bring every title to the platform. That is a statement about Take-Two's whole catalog, not about GTA 6. No Switch 2 version of GTA 6 has been announced by anyone at Rockstar or Take-Two.
Reports have circulated that GTA 6 was being tested on Switch 2 hardware. Testing reports are not announcements, they come from named leakers citing unnamed sources of their own, and nothing has followed from them in the months since. Treat this as unconfirmed.
PC: expected by almost everyone, announced by nobody
Rockstar has brought its recent big releases to PC eventually, but there is no GTA 6 PC announcement, no date and no published system requirements. Expectation based on history is not the same as a plan you can hold Rockstar to.
If you are on a PS5 or an Xbox Series, the next question is what you actually need on launch day.
What PS5 and Xbox Series owners should know

Preload is set for November 12, 2026, one week before launch.
The game ships in a standard edition and an Ultimate Edition, priced at 79.99 and 99.99 US dollars.
Rockstar has not published the install size. Reporting puts the base game at roughly 150 to 200 GB, plus whatever a day-one patch adds. That is an estimate, not an official number.
Rockstar has not announced a frame rate or a performance mode for either console. The 26 minute Extended Look was captured from in game footage on a PlayStation 5, which tells you what the game looks like but not what mode it was running in.
ABC News reported that physical copies contain a download code rather than a playable disc. If you are buying physically, check the box before you assume otherwise.
Preload date and pricing
Preload opens November 12, 2026. ABC News gives the prices in round numbers as 80 and 100 US dollars; the store listings show 79.99 for the standard edition and 99.99 for the Ultimate Edition.
Three specific things. Until one of them happens, the platform list stays at two.
A Rockstar Newswire post or an official Rockstar account announcing a new platform.
A store listing going live on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Rockstar Store or the Nintendo eShop.
A platform holder, meaning Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo, listing GTA 6 in its own storefront or presentation.
None of those has happened. When one does, this page changes the same day.

Is GTA 6 coming to PS4?
No. A PlayStation 4 version has never been announced. GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, and a PS4 release is not part of that.
Is GTA 6 coming to Xbox One?
