A question with no honest answer yet, and the reasons why
Is GTA 6 coming to Steam?
Almost certainly, eventually. But nobody can tell you when, and anyone who gives you a date is guessing. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, a PC date, or a PC storefront. Steam is a PC storefront, so the Steam question sits behind a door that has not been opened. What we can do is show you exactly what Rockstar did the last two times, because the two cases point in different directions.
The short answer
Three facts, in the order that matters. Every honest answer to the Steam question is built from these.
as of August 28, 2026
GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No other platform is part of that launch.
There is no announced PC version. No date, no storefront, no system requirements, no PC pre-order.
Because there is no PC version, there can be no Steam version, no Steam store page, and no Steam release date. The question is one layer further out than most articles admit.
What Rockstar has actually said
No PC release date has been given.
No PC storefront has been named, which includes Steam, the Epic Games Store and Rockstar's own launcher.
No PC system requirements have been published, which is why every requirements table you find online is invented.
Pre-orders opened in June 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There was no PC option at any price tier. Take-Two has repeatedly reaffirmed the November 19, 2026 date, always with the same two console families attached and never with a third platform.
That silence is not a hint in either direction. Rockstar has historically stayed quiet about PC ports until they are close to ready, which means the absence of news tells you nothing about whether work is happening. It only tells you that no commitment exists that you could plan around.
Which raises the more useful question: what does the old data actually say?
The historical pattern, and why it is not one pattern
People reach for GTA 5 as the precedent. The more recent Rockstar release tells a different story, and the difference is the whole point of this page.
GTA 5: PC in April 2015, Steam on day one
The Windows version arrived on April 14, 2015, roughly a year and a half after the console launch. It was buyable on Steam that same day at the standard price. For that release, PC day one and Steam day one were the same day.
Red Dead Redemption 2: PC in November 2019, without Steam
The PC version launched on November 5, 2019 through Rockstar's own launcher and the Epic Games Store, plus a handful of key resellers. Steam was not part of that launch. PC players who only buy on Steam had to wait.
Red Dead Redemption 2 reached Steam on December 5, 2019
Exactly one month after the PC release. By the time it arrived, the PC version had already been through a rough patch of launch problems that Steam buyers avoided by accident rather than by design.
The newer of the two precedents is the one where Steam came late. If Rockstar repeats the Red Dead Redemption 2 approach, a GTA 6 PC release would not automatically mean a GTA 6 Steam release on the same day. Both patterns are real, and there is no way to know which one applies.
This is the question we can answer least, so here is exactly how far the honest answer goes.
No Steam Deck rating exists or can exist before a PC version ships.
No official GTA 6 system requirements have been published for any PC hardware.
Streaming from a gaming PC over Steam Link is the usual workaround for demanding games, and it would depend on a PC version existing first.
Steam Deck compatibility is decided per game after a PC version exists. Valve tests the actual build and assigns a Verified or Playable rating. With no PC version, there is no build to test, no rating, and no way for anyone to have run it.
The hardware side is the part people want a verdict on. The Steam Deck runs a 4 core, 8 thread Zen 2 CPU with 8 RDNA 2 graphics units, 16 GB of shared LPDDR5 memory, a 4 to 15 watt power envelope and a 1280 by 800 screen. A current generation console game built for PlayStation 5 is a long way above that envelope. But since no GTA 6 PC requirements exist, comparing the two is guesswork with numbers attached, not analysis.
Fake Steam listings, fake keys, fake demos
The gap between demand and information is exactly where the scams live, and the Steam question is one of the biggest gaps there is.
If a site sells you a GTA 6 PC or Steam key, it is either a scam or a stolen or region locked key that will be revoked.
A Steam store page for GTA 6 does not exist, so there is nothing to wishlist. Pages that look like one are fakes.
Downloads offered as a GTA 6 demo or early access are malware. Rockstar has announced no demo.
Check file size before you run anything. A one megabyte installer is not a game.
There is no legitimate GTA 6 PC key on sale anywhere, at any price, from any seller. Not a pre-order, not a beta key, not early access, not a demo. This follows directly from the first fact on this page: you cannot sell a key for a version that does not exist.
Security researchers documented an active campaign in August 2026 built around a fake GTA 6 demo. The sites copied Rockstar's real promotional material and served an executable that was in fact information stealing malware aimed at saved passwords, session cookies and browser history. One giveaway was file size: the download was about one megabyte, which cannot contain a modern game.
FAQ
When is GTA 6 coming to Steam?
Unknown. There is no announced PC version of GTA 6, so there is no Steam date. The console release is November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Was GTA 5 on Steam when it launched on PC?
Yes. The PC version launched on April 14, 2015 and was buyable on Steam the same day. But the more recent Rockstar release, Red Dead Redemption 2, did not repeat that.
Why does Red Dead Redemption 2 matter to this question?
Because it is the newer precedent. Its PC version launched on November 5, 2019 through Rockstar's launcher and the Epic Games Store, and Steam followed one month later on December 5, 2019. So a GTA 6 PC launch would not guarantee a same day Steam launch.
Will GTA 6 run on Steam Deck?
Nobody knows, and nobody can know yet. Steam Deck ratings are assigned to an existing PC build, and no PC build has been announced. Our expectation is that it will be very demanding for that hardware, but that is an expectation, not a test result.
Is there a GTA 6 Steam page I can wishlist?
No. No official Steam store page exists for GTA 6. Anything that looks like one is a fake, and there is no wishlist to join.
Can I buy a GTA 6 PC key now?
No legitimate one exists. Pre-orders opened in June 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Any site selling a PC or Steam key is selling you nothing or worse.
